Quality Instead of Trend
High-quality materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and over 40 years of experience. Made to last for years, not just one season.
In the early 1970s, Takahiro Idobata worked for a glove manufacturer in Wakayama. Each finger had its own space there. With socks, however, the toes remained constricted, even though they are the very parts that need freedom of movement to stay strong and flexible. Why is that, anyway?
A prototype for toe socks was once produced in Spain, but it didn’t convince him. In 1981, he founded Knitglove, which later became the Knitido® brand – and did it better. For over 40 years, we’ve been refining the toe sock.
There were no knitting machines suited to the task. So Takahiro Idobata teamed up with a Japanese machine manufacturer to develop his own, and had it patented in 1974.
Based on this, even better models continue to be produced to this day. Craftsmanship, expertise, and experience all come together in this process.

Each toe has room to spread out. This gives you a stable footing and more control with every step, from sprinting to balancing on the mat.
We've optimized the manufacturing process to the point where our toe socks fit your feet perfectly. They're so comfortable that you can barely feel them.
Knitido has deep roots in rural Wakayama. We’ve been knitting here for over 40 years, and today the second generation is carrying on the family business.
Building on this foundation, we continue to create ever-better designs. Craftsmanship, expertise, and experience all come together in this process.
We have been selling our socks in Europe since 2007. This is us: Knitido Europe GmbH, based in Berlin.
