Why do your Knitidos actually arrive packaged in plastic?
Knitido toe socks are produced in our own knitting factory in Wakayama, Japan, and shipped monthly to Germany. From there, they are sorted in our main DHL warehouse, while some are forwarded to Amazon warehouses. Each of these warehouses has its own storage methods and requirements for how products must arrive.
This means that toe socks travel quite a long way before reaching your home — and at many points along the journey, we are unable to personally oversee the handling process.
👉 The plastic packaging is intended to protect your toe socks from transport damage and to ensure the quality we promise you.
👉 In addition, socks are considered a hygiene product, and the plastic packaging helps maintain this hygiene standard.
So is it impossible without plastic?
Not entirely, of course: it is currently the most hygienic solution, but we are already looking for a suitable alternative that is more environmentally friendly while still protecting the toe socks properly.
